Coomera hits the
hot spot

The Northern Suburbs of Coomera and Oxenford, gateway to Australia's
fastest growing city, is proving to be one of the Gold Coast
burgeoning development hotspots, with latest research pointing to more
than $3billion in development activity either planned or underway in
the area.
PRDnationwide's Gold Coast corporate office's research has unveiled
the extent of what will become the city's next satellite city behind
Robina. The research, compiled by research manager Lynda Campbell
covers development worth more than $5 million each on land from
Oxenford, north to Guanaba and Maudsland.
PRDnationwide general manager Paul Randell said many of the State's
key developers have recognised the area as a development hot spot.
"The Gold Coast population is due to hit the 500,000 mark sometime
next year and the Coomera region is one of the city's few areas able
to be developed further," he said.
"Coomera is a dynamic and expanding corridor that links the Gold Coast
to Brisbane and for the past four years it's been earmarked as the
next major development zone. The region is flourishing now that
residential and commercial developments are being realised".
"A multi-billion dollar 380ha Coomera town centre will provide the
additional infrastructure commitment for the area which will include
business and retail precincts, 100,00sqm of shops and offices, a TAFE
campus and potentially the Gold Coast's third university."
"With Hope Island and Sanctuary Cove as neighbours the spotlight is on
Coomera and it's thriving." In total there is more than $1.5 billion
in development under way and $1.6 billion in projects planned. There
are nine developments alone valued between $100 million and $600
million on the cards.
"Under construction, within a few kilometres of each other, is
Austcorp's $500 million residential community Coomera Waters, Coomera
Resort's $600 million Coomera Woods, and Hokojitsugyo's $250 million
Coomera Town Centre," he said.
"Sunland has also focused its attention from metropolitan highrises
with Reserve Road's Coomera One and Coomera Two pending approval. The
traditional house and land developers such as AV Jennings, Villa World
and Devine Homes have tagged projects in Oxenford, Maudsland and Upper
Coomera. However, we are also seeing the smaller boutique developers
making their presence felt."
